On first glance they look like carrots – but hidden inside was over a metric ton of marijuana.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility in Texas were tipped off and quickly discovered the hidden drugs on January 10th, concealed within a commercial shipment of fresh carrots.
"Once again, drug smuggling organizations have demonstrated their creativity in attempting to smuggle large quantities of narcotics across the U.S./Mexico border," said Port Director Efrain Solis Jr.
$499,000 worth of marijuana stuffed carrots were removed and seized.
